Checklists (Again) - Every Month, Quarter, Year :)

Welcome to March! It’s the first day of the month and my calendar reminder is telling me to review our monthly, quarterly, and annual checklists and playbooks.

Yes it’s a bit boring but the checklists + the playbooks help us stay organized and continue to execute as we head into the third month of the year and the last month in the first quarter!

We’ve written a lot on checklists previously, most notably in the following posts:

Legal Checklists from Chris Harvey at the Law of VC

While the finance checklists are great and important, every VC investor and fund finance professional needs to know enough legal to be dangerous. But it’s complicated. That’s where Chris Harvey at the comes in!

Earlier this week, Chris released his “Essential Checklists for VC Fund Formation” post. I highly encourage VC investors and fund finance professionals to check it out! Law of VC breaks down the complexities of VC legal into simple terms, charts, and checklists. From Chris:

“It took me over a decade of practicing law to finally realize that venture capital fund law is primarily supported by only three laws.” Today’s article is a set of fund formation checklists:

  1. Fund Structure ➡️ Forming the Fund

  2. Fund Mechanics ➡️ Closing the Fund

  3. Regulatory Compliance ➡️ Post-Closing Obligations

Check out the full post for more detail on all things legal for VC!

That’s all for today folks! Thanks for your support and spreading the word! Share this on Twitter or LinkedIn to help grow “the crew!”
