VC Summit Week in LA - Inside Look @ Chapter One
For VC GP’s, Finance Pros, and LP investors, it’s been a busy start to the year! The grind took a brief pause (or new focus area) this week as >1,000 VC professionals, LP investors, and founders descended on LA for the Upfront Summit. I first attended the Summit in 2016 as a LP investor - it’s grown a lot since! We wrote about this in detail last year: VC's & LP's in LA for Upfront.
As our friend Molly O’Shea (Sourcery) shared, “the Upfront Summit is back for 2024 & taking over Los Angeles with the top GPs, LPs, Founders, and yes, some celebrities, yet again.” She’ll be reporting with a recap of the best talks and takeaways from the key leaders speaking this year from Melinda French Gates, Keith Rabois, Katy Perry, Chris Dixon, Trae Stephens, Nand Mulchandani (CIA), Tracee Ellis Ross, Blake Griffin, Cameron Diaz, Novak Djokovic, and more.
The Chapter One Summit: Product Market Fit
On Monday, Chapter One kicked off the week with the Chapter One Summit: Product Market Fit. The event was hosted at the Santa Monica HQ and brought together 100 VCs, investors, and founders. Key highlights:
David Marcus (Co-Founder & CEO of Lightspark) and Jeff Morris Jr. discussed the future of payments and his drinks w/ Mark Zuckerberg
Chapter One Updates on Product Market Fit from Jeff Morris Jr. and The VC Data Revolution from Jamesin Seidel
Sean Rad (Founder of Tinder) reminded us that Founder-Market-Fit is often overlooked and perhaps more important than PMF
Founder Panels & Product Showcases by Bryan Pratte (Hallway), Faizan Buzdar (Roll.ai), and Itai Turbahn (Dynamic)
Rebecca Kayden (General Partner at USV) and Jeff Morris Jr. discussed thesis-driven investing, pursuing early liquidity in a VC fund, and maintaining a consistent approach
